Bargain for more than expected.
Amanda DeWitt, who goes by @itsamandadewitt on TikTok, was delighted to buy an antique Louis XVI sideboard on Facebook Marketplace — but couldn’t believe her eyes when she opened it.
“Of course, I bought it. I finally managed to catch it this morning. It’s in my house; she’s absolutely stunning, perfect,” said the Dallas, Texas, resident.
In a 90-second clip posted on January 4, she walks into the lavish royal buffet, which she bought for a ninth of the original price.
Although she inspected the outside of the piece of furniture via the internet post, she wasn’t able to peek inside to see what treasures awaited her – until she arrived at her home.
“When we first get it, I’m unlocking the lockers like someone would check all the draws, making sure everything is in order,” DeWitt continued. “Please look what I found. There are literally no words.”
Texas opened the left buffet cabinet to find a complete set of Hermes China dinner plates in orange boxes and a blue box from Tiffany & Co.
“All these plates are in perfect condition,” DeWitt gushed. “I think there are 12 plates in total.”
The gold-embellished set includes solid dessert plates with the Hermes logo in the center.
“I mean, beautiful. Literally what dreams are made of,” she said.
DeWitt, taken aback by the surprise, wasn’t sure if the items had been left inside the buffet by accident.
Many TikTokers chimed in, claiming they would have assumed the China group was part of the sale.
“I wouldn’t have said anything. You are better than me”, one person wrote.
“You are really beautiful. I would have blocked them, felt guilty for a long time and moved on,” added another.
“A place for you in heaven, my daughter, because it could never be me,” admitted one joker. “My Hermes dinner party was scheduled for the same day.”
However, DeWitt’s heart of gold would not allow him to keep the plaques unless they were given to him on purpose.
“Obviously I’m not like a horrible person, so I texted the woman I bought it from,” she confessed.
She texted the seller: “Hey, I just opened the left buffet cabinet and there’s literally a whole set of Hermes China in here.”
Unfortunately, the vendors responded to DeWitt and quickly recovered their forgotten fortunes.
“It was fun while it lasted…but they actually asked to come get everything after I texted them about my discovery,” sighed DeWitt.
In a follow-up video, she explained how she didn’t regret her decision to contact the owners because they discovered the Hermes set was their wedding china.
“All I know is I better have some good karma to show her,” DeWitt laughed.
