Americans alarmed by ‘chemical fog’ spreading across US: Phenomenon sparks bioweapons conspiracy theories after drone sightings

New Year, new conspiracy theories.

Parts of the US have been blanketed by a “mysterious” haze, prompting concern from locals who claim it has a “chemical” smell and exposure could result in flu-like symptoms.

One Florida resident told the Daily Mail they felt sick after being out in the fog for just 10 minutes.

“Within about an hour, I continued to sneeze non-stop for about three hours and my eyes were really puffy,” the unnamed Floridian claimed. “I got really hot and felt like I had a fever and my stomach was cramping.”

The Daily Mail reports that the phenomena have eerie echoes of “Operation Sea-Spray” – a secret biological warfare experiment carried out by the US Navy in the 1950s.

At the time, the bacteria serratia marcescens and bacillus globigii were sprayed over the San Francisco Bay Area to determine how vulnerable a major American city might be to a biological weapons attack. At least one American was killed and 10 others were seriously ill.

Conspiracy theories have spread on social media as people in many states have reported a similar phenomenon, which follows drone sightings in several areas of the country.

Footage online shows a swarm of particles floating within the fog, prompting fears that it is no ordinary weather event but some sort of bio-weapon, users suspect.

“Described as a thick, elongated blanket, the fog has left people sick – many have experienced sudden cold or flu symptoms after only brief exposure,” explained one person at X of the “so-called” fog chemical”. “Called ‘Fogvid-24’, some victims have also reported an unexplained loss of power.”

According to The Daily Mail, people in X have reported “strange smells” burning their noses, speculating that the government “dropped a bunch of germs on the site this week, in the form of fog”.

“It tastes and smells like you’ve set off too many fireworks. That smell of sulphur,” one TikTok user wrote, adding that it was “creating me”.

Meanwhile, a Kansas resident also told the media that she saw “massive amounts of chemtrails” in her area before the haze began.

However, there is a scientific reason why the fog forms – and it has nothing to do with biological weapons.

Fog, a cloud of water droplets or ice crystals that forms near the earth’s surface, occurs as a result of air temperature reaching its dew point, which is its maximum water saturation.

Because it’s made up of tiny particles, shining a light on fog — as seen on social media — will make them visible.

Not to mention, the fog, because it’s so close to the earth’s surface, absorbs pollutants and odors that may explain why residents notice a strong wind, the Daily Mail reported. The fog can also cause breathing problems due to the high levels of humidity in the air, according to some experts.

The fall and winter months are the most common times of the year when fog forms, which may also explain the increase in this phenomenon across the country.
