My brother could be my son – the troubling truth after my dark family secrets

Logan Gifford was only 10 years old when his mother, Doreene, first sexually abused him.

He endured these terrible attacks for six years and during that time, Dorene is born another son.

Now, at 26, Logan is taking legal action to carry out a paternity test for his younger brother, whom he suspects could be his child.

“My brother could be my son”

According to 8 News now, Logan’s 15-year-old brother currently lives, and experiences cognitive difficulties.

“There is a chance that my brother could be my son. I am still straightforward in the mess I have left,” Logan says.

“He deserves to have a quiet and peaceful life … He did not ask any of that.”

At a preliminary session of 2015, Logan confessed how abuse began.

He told the court that his mother invited him to the room he shared with his father, Theodore. Until then, most of the family was asleep and she was playing a pornagraphic movie. As they were in the room, she began teasing her.

Logan explained to the court that he was abused at the end of 2008, which was in line with the concept of his younger brother.

Doreene was charged with sexual assault with a minor and incest, yet denied all charges. Finally, she was convicted between eight and 20 years after she received a guilty agreement.

A therapist suggested that Logan could be the father

In 2024, Doreene was released orally, but months later, she was arrested for violating one of her conditions with an attack to contact her two sons, including Logan.

He was still living with the trauma, Logan said playing a portion in sending his mother to prison “halfway” justified him. Unfortunately, his life has adhered to reveal after a therapist put him that his brother could be his son.

“I was 17,” he told Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“This threw me for a loop. I asked none of that.

“I was a kid when all this happened and yet I’m responsible for building parts of something that really is still still having an impact on my life and pulling me up to deal with it.”

Logan added that he did not have a “traditional childhood” – he was exposed to drug use at an early age and had adjustments to meet with children’s protective services.

Tragically, his younger brother drowned at the age of three.

Logan has tried to move forward with his life, becoming a campaign eager for voting rights, as well as marry, raise his daughter and take care of his brother.

He decided to talk about what he experienced so that others survived by victims would not suffer alone.

“Sitting here and saying that my brother can be the product of my sexual advice is a very visceral thing to think about as a man survivor.

“But he is here now. There is no turning back and nothing is undone. And he deserves to have a quality of life where he is comfortable where he can be a child.”
