The era of work stopping for a better salary may have ended – crushing the dreams of Gen Z Gen Workers

General Z can no longer ride on top.

Days of role in role to increase salaries are over in the current job market, reports Fortune.

According to new data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Atlanta Federal Reserve Bank, workers who remained in their current jobs gained a 4.6% collision in January and February while those who changed roles over the same time frame saw a 4.8% increase.

But the findings are a star contrast from previous years. In 2023, an hopper received an average rise of 7.7%, while an employee who stayed in their role only received a 5.6%salary increase.

A new survey study Harris found that 70% of American works believe that they will fight to find a new job, better than what they might have – while in four people claim that employers have the upper hand in the labor market.

Mentioning the 2023 data from the summary, Fortune reported that 83% of General Z employees called themselves “hoppers of work”. And, according to a study by the H&R block, almost one -third of General Zers changed work, much to score better salary.

In short, Genius also found that over half of General Z workers believe that changing jobs every two or three years is acceptable, despite the bosses argue differently.

Recruitment experts told Fortune that employees could hop, but they have to demonstrate longevity in an organization eventually.

“You just have to be patient on the trip,” Sarah Walker, the chief executive of the United Kingdom in Cisco, told Fortune, adding that he needed 25 years in the company to get to the place where he is now.
