When an older, low -income neighborhood is being improved and renovated by a wave of new, rich homeowners and investors, gentriification has usually begun.
Some people say this is a good thing for the local economy, while others argue that it shifts long -term inhabitants receiving awards.
“Gentification can bring investments are that they may not have received much attention in previous years,” says Hannah Jones, a senior economic research analyst. “However, usually the main beneficiaries of this investment are not the families and populations who have lived in neighborhoods for generations, but rather the new residents.”
