It has not happened for the longest time, but Billy Joel has a buyer for his Long Island wealth – or at least part of it.
Gatehouse, where the music legend occasionally stands when he is on the property of Waterfront Center Island, is going to contract this week for $ 8.5 million, said Emmett Laffey, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Laffey International Realty, who is ranking Piano Man’s complex.
A couple living on the north coast of Long Island is buying the house, he said.
More residence than a humble turning structure of the last century in a road approach, the gate gate contains 5,565 square meters in 4.95 hectares on the beach with five bedrooms, four bathrooms, two kitchens, a pool and one separately in the order.
The annual taxes are $ 90,000, said Lafffey, who added it will take 45 days to close the sale.
Gatehouse is located in one of the four parts that make up Middlesea 26 hectares of Joel, who returned to the market in September, Laffey said. The required priest for the main house and its remaining land, which includes a helipad and a dock, will drop to $ 39.9 million, he said. It was ranked for $ 49.9 million.
Joel cannot be reached for comment.
The main house recently underwent a multimillion dollar renovation expected to last only two years, but extended to more than five, Laffey said. Joel initially ranked the spread in May 2023 while the home and its property were still a developing job, Laffey said.
“As an unfinished property, you can never see this size of a home,” Laffey said. “It was … a construction scene. Anydo buyers in this category – they have to see the finished product.” Sales, Laffey added, “was nowhere.”
Joel never moved back to the main house after work began, though he lived in the complex.
“When he is there, he is either in the gate,” said Laffey, or the house invited near the main house.
Joel bought the main property in 2002 for a $ 22.5 million reported, expanding on the trace of original wealth a century ago, he said.
The main house is in 14 hectares, and the other two of the four parts “look like a state park”, and are 3 hectares each, empty and sloping up to the oyster bay.
“For today’s buyer, his original home is more than enough for everyone,” Laffey said, adding, “If the buyer wants those extra hectares for intimacy, they have them. And if they want to build on them in the future, they can do so.
The gate house is about 1,500 meters away from the main house.
“It is so perfect to share it because it has not kept the two parts in the residence,” Laffey said.
The other highlights in the gatehouse include two master suites, one in the first flower and the other in the second with a balcony – both facing water. An outdoor kitchen in a Spanish -on -screen yard offers a place to stand in vain, dinner and cooked in a gas grill. An electric gate works with an intercom and a camera for safety.
For its part, the 20,000-square-foot main house comes with the beach and guest house-the last with a Bowling garage-a garage that can accommodate six cars in the maintenance house and a wine basement.
