Overweight rates in the United States have increased significantly over the last two decades.
In the early 2000s, approximately 30.5% of American adults were classified as thick. By March 2020, this figure was increased to 41.9%, according to the CDC.

Researchers estimated the data of 450,111 participants aged 35 to 70 in 10 European countries and found that high adhesion in the Mediterranean diet was associated with a 6% lower risk associated with overweight.
