One mother says she saves $ 5,000 by shaking her son’s birthday and Christmas gifts each year.
Natalie Joy Miller, 38, has always wanted to clean second -hand shops and even began collecting clothes for her son, Artie Allen, 5, when she was 16 years old – years before she was born even.
Mother -one says that “pretty all his things” are second -hand and she likes to find gems in wonderful stores and occasionally online on Facebook Marketplace.
For the fifth birthday of Artie, Natalie found 13 gifts including a small red Dutch oven to match her in her kitchen, a camera and a clifford -filled toy – spending less than $ 150.
Artie was also treated with 22 predetermined Christmas gifts – for only $ 154 – including a record player of $ 18 and $ 25 project.
Natalie estimates that the gifts would have been five times prices if she had bought it all new – and says she believes she has saved $ 5k in the last five years.
Natalie – who owns Natalie Joy Jewelry – from Portland, Oregon, SH.BA, said: “Treatment is so useful.
“Likes like a treasure hunt.
“If I were to buy new things would be four or five times less than the cost.
“You save money and it’s more stable.
“We make a great Christmas – about 20 gifts.
“So exciting.”
Natalie grew up shocking and was even looking for children’s items before she was pregnant.
She said: “My favorite thing is to take over for children’s toys and clothes.
“I got a blouse of Susam Street when I was 16 years old.
“He wins it this year.”
Natalie had a chest of 20 articles before art was born but now loves much more – and taking it with him.
She said: “Apart from the newborn phase, where people had given us as gifts, almost all of his things are second -hand.”
Yeardo Natalie shoots in the wonderful shops for artie birthday gifts.
For his fifth on February 4, 2025, she found him a forklift toy, set Walkie talcie, catcher bug, operating game, a set of craft beads, a toy for floral garden, a View master Toys, a Clifford -filled toy, Madeline Matching Game, a Tiger figurine, a camera and a Dutch oven.
Natalie said: “The one for whom I was excited was the Dutch oven.
“He is obsessed after cooking next to me.
“We have a reddish red and I found the same brand in the same exact color.
“He is really excited to cook along me.
“I never speak more than $ 150.”
Natalie said her young son is obsessed with his new toy camera that he found on Facebook Marketplace.
She said: “He is really taking pictures.
“He has it over it all the time.”
Natalie says the expenses for second -hand toys are not “as dangerous” as the costs of loading in a new article that a child can only play once.
She said: “Older items have become more stable.
“The newest clothes break down.
“I even get people in my comments that say” Why are you giving you used things – don’t you make it feel sad? “
“No he is a child.
“More individual and delightful.”
