After closing in 2017 for major renovations, Waldorf Astoria is finally welcoming its youngest residents

The first three courses out of a total of 375 have sold to residents of Waldorf Astoria New York, according to numerous property data and reports this week.

The delayed opening of the legendary, legendary hotel is finally planned for this spring-years after its Chinese owners closed it for renovation.

The apartments range from a $ 1.8 million to four beds and the Penthouse in the $ 70 million plus rank. Buyers are divided between local New Yorkers and Global Rich, said sales director Loretta Shanahan.

Douglas Elliman development is dealing with sales. B&B Italy and, especially, Josh Greene have designed condos interiors – and residences can be purchased furnished.

The $ 2 billion renovation, led by the School Skedmore Architecture Firm Owings & Merrill, returned the hotel to its Glory Art Deco.

Auction and art trader Simon of Pury healed the modern hotel art collection.

A Chinese government-related insurance company, Anbang Insurance Group, then led by President Wu Xiaohui-Bujoi Waldorf from Hilton for $ 1.95 billion in 2014, and Hilton signed a 100-year contract to manage the hotel. By 2017, the hotel closed for great renovations.

Around that time, the Chinese government arrested Wu – who was married to the granddaughter of former Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping – with corruption charges. He has not been heard since then. The hotel is now owned by another firm linked to Chinese government, Dajia Insurance Group.

Waldorf Astoria has plenty of history. It was the home of Cole Porter, Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe – and is also where the famous culinary dishes were created, like the fragile Waldorf salad. There were even secret train tracks under the hotel used by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Waldorf residents have 50,000 square meters of private facilities designed by Jean-Louis Deniot, including a Skylin pool, a gym and a wellness center, along with a winter garden, a business center, a theater and an event space.

There are a 375 extra hotel room – down from 1,400 original rooms – now planned to open later this spring. Condo owners also have access to 100,000 square meters of hotel equipment.
