A stewardess has revealed the biggest mistakes that travelers make – long before boarding the plane.
Cici has worked as a stewardess for a large US airline for six years, and she has seen all sorts of mistakes during her career.
After she became a stewardess, one of the biggest changes she made in her lifestyle was the way she made her travel packages, Business Insider Cici told her full name and airline where she works for privacy reasons.
Since then she has become travel expert and expert in packaging with ingenuity, and has shared the most common – and avoidable mistakes – that passengers make when packing luggage with bi.
Filling a hand luggage
Cici showed that a mistake many people make is to pack their luggage so filled that they are unable to raise it in the upper bin.
Passengers often seek help from stewardess when they have difficulty raising and storing their bag, but she stressed that this is not part of her work.
Many airlines actually have policies that prohibit the stewards from doing so.
The stewards are not paid until all passengers are on board and closes the doors of the plane, so if they are injured, they will not receive the compensation of workers as they are not yet on time.
Cici said passengers need to feel sure they can set up their own bag and will not need help.
Bringing more than two bags
Cici noted that some people will bring more than two bags to the plane, violating the rule of two bags. She often sees people who bring a suitcase, a backpack and a bag.
This often leads that port agents should ask passengers to consolidate their items at the gate in just two bags.
Some airlines even pay for extra luggage, so make sure you only bring the amount of luggage your airline allows.
Not using a personal item
Cici shared that people will often put the necessary things for flying in their hand luggage that is stored above and not on a personal item such as a backbone or bag, which ultimately causes delays in the riding.
“People put the things they need on the plane – like their book and headphones or whatever they need – inside their luggage,” she said. “And it’s not easy to access.”
You need to pass the suitcase while riding can support everyone and it is very dangerous to cross the suitcase in the middle of the flight due to turbulence and the risk of injury. Cici suggests to put everything you need on your personal item so that it can be easily achieved throughout the flight.
Not properly packing fluid
Cici has experienced fluid flow approved by TSA by people “everywhere”. This is because changing heights causes the gases to expand, which can end with the toilet or water bottles flowing into your luggage, according to The Points Guy.
It recommended to squeeze as much air from the bottle to help prevent expansion in the middle of the flight. But most importantly, she said to be smart which travel size bottles are packing.
Having tried many travel -size containers during her trips, Cici showed that she had more successful and less leakage with those who have screw lids instead of ruptured peaks. She believes these bottles have a narrower seal that helps prevent leakage.
Not to bring a bottle of reusable water
According to the Air Medical Association, it is recommended to drink 8 ounce water per hour while on the plane.
Cici emphasized the importance of staying hydrated during a flight – but since you cannot bring more than three ounces to the plane, bringing an empty water bottle to fill after you pass security is a great way to t ‘ made sure you have water.
Forgetting to pack food
In the case where the flights are extremely turbulent, the stewards are sometimes required to sit for the whole flight – which means they will not come with food.
Some airlines have also completely removed free foods, including the Frontier Airlines and Allegian Air.
Cici said passengers should always pack their meals when flying, just to be safe.
Packaging of heavy items
One mistake Cici sees often is that passengers pack their heavy clothes instead of wear them on the plane.
She will sometimes talk to passengers who have only one hand luggage and are lined with lightweight clothes on the plane. But Cici prefers to have more space in her bag.
She indicated that she recently flew to Italy, and though she was flying from sunny and hot Florida, she wore her big rain boots, a sweater and a jacket on the plane, so save space on her luggage And leave more room for clothing.
