Women are as attracted to younger partners as men, suggests a new study.
Men and women are equally drawn to raising the most new sexual occupation – whether or not they understand, scientists say.
The conclusion came from a US study of 4500 blind data of people looking for a long -term partner.
The main author of the study Paul Eastwick, a professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis, said: “After a blind date, participants withdrew a little more from new partners, and this trend was just as true for men and women .
“This preference for youth among women will be shocking to many people because in mixed gender couples, men tend to be older than women.
“Plus, women generally say they prefer older partners.
“But women’s preferences on dates themselves discovered something else.”
This study, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNA), sampled a different age range, with data ranging from 22 to 85.
The research team says it is the first study to examine the link between the age of the partner and the romantic desire on a blind date among the people looking for long -term partners.
The researchers came under data from more than 6,000 participants who were placed in blind data from the Tawkify match company.
Half of the data were men and half of the other women, and most were placed on mixed sex dates. More than half reported that they were white, with the rest that make up numerous competitions and ethnicities.
In answering the survey questions, most reported that they had an upper limit of age for the dates they prefer, but the self-reported age limit had no impact on the current data choices.
Researchers also came if women with higher income may be tend to choose a younger partner.
Some of the women in the study were quite rich.
But there was little evidence that their income – either their or theirs – influenced these women’s little preference for youth, according to the findings.
The study did not see if romantic withdrawal at a first date led to term relationships in length.
But Prof Eastwick added: “These findings suggest that men and women find young people a little more attractive in the initial determination of attraction – whether they know it or not.”
