Sexy life-size AI robot that talks and expresses emotions can be your girlfriend for a hefty price: ‘Remembers who you are’

To quote a line from Terminator 2: “Come with me if you want love.”

Researchers have bridged the gap between science fiction and reality by inventing a life-sized artificial intelligence robot “to tackle the staggering epidemic of loneliness”.

And the cybersex companion can be yours—for $175,000.

The bread robot, named Melody, was one of several humanoid robots on display at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. 7.

Created by tech firm Realbotix, Melody was reportedly created in line with ongoing efforts to make robots “indistinguishable from humans,” company CEO Andrew Kiguel told Forbes.

Accordingly, the robo-pal is a dead ringer for a real person and can perform a variety of realistic movements and actions, such as maintaining eye contact, evoking something from Black Mirror or Megan.

While footage demonstrating Melody’s functions isn’t available, CNET managed to interview her compatriot Aria, a blonde bot in black overalls who interacts through slightly odd movements and automated responses like a fiery animatronic Santa.

Realbotix robots are also “specifically designed for companionship and intimacy,” Aria told the publication.

Melody’s “functionality” and “adaptability” are made possible by infusing the car with a combination of open-source artificial intelligence and advanced motor technology, Realbotix representatives claimed.

“Incorporating advanced motor technology, Melody enhances motion fluidity, modularity and interactivity, making it a versatile option for a variety of applications,” they said.

Of course, this AI companion might seem complicated to transport given its size—not to mention all the bells and whistles—but it’s super portable, able to be disassembled and reassembled with ease.

“Melody was created with the goal of having robots that are easy to travel and modify for different forms of personal interaction,” Kiguel said.

Its personality and advanced features make it suitable for a variety of roles, including education, healthcare and plain old entertainment.

“We’re taking it to another level that nobody else is really doing,” Kiguel said. “It can be like a romantic partner. It remembers who you are. It can act as a boyfriend or girlfriend. If you’ve ever seen that movie Herewe’re trying to do that.”

But don’t think about going full sex machine still – hanky panky is not Melody’s prime directive.

“Melody does not have the functions of a sex doll,” said a spokesperson for Realbotix. “These bots are more about engagement and entertainment and building human connections.”

However, they added that the company’s bots “can run any of the spicier programs and also engage in adult conversations.”

Some of its components are replaceable, which can be useful depending on its use.
