Exclusive | The nephew of the founder Pan Am lists the NYC house with sweet ties to his famous grandfather

Buying an apartment in this iconic building, in the 10 Gracie Square, was a full-lived moment for financier William Douglass, whose grandfather, Juan Trippe, Pan American World Airways, Aka Pan Am-Grandma also lived in an elegant 15-storey building from 1940 to 1967.

“As a child, I visited my prevailers in the building and grew up looking at Pan am planes leaving the Lagardia from their living room,” said Douglass, entrepreneur, philanthropist and co -founder of K2 Advisors investment firm, which is now part of Franklin Temple. “When my wife Kristin and I was looking for a house at home after retiring and selling my company, feels like I was returning home, and that is why I chose to buy here. It is in my blood.”

But now, Douglass has listed his apartment – in what social commentator Tom Wolfe called one of the city’s “good buildings” – outside $ 4.29 million.

He bought the three-bedroom co-op, with three bathrooms in 2015 for $ 3.55 million, according to property data.
