Western Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey, R and Kennedy held a joint event on Friday to announce a ban on certain food colors. The government also took the opportunity to announce that its state has submitted a waiver that would prohibit the participants of the Food Aid Program (SNAP) from using the benefits to buy soda.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since 2023, Western Virginia was one of the only three states that had an overweight spread of 40% or greater.

The prevalence of Arkansa’s overweight was 40%, 40.1%of Mississippi, while Western Virginia was 41.2%.

Since 2022, the World Obesity Foundation has listed the US as the 190s in the world with 43.29% of adults who were thick. Meanwhile, the American Samoa ranked number one with over 75% of adults suffering from overweight.
