The oldest Michelin star restaurant in the world has lost its third star, according to numerous reports outside Europe.
Since 1981, Georges Blanc, beloved eating in vonnas, Southeast France, has boasted three stars of Michelin – honor given by the famous restaurant guide.
But in her new guide, Michelin has now attracted the third star from the restaurant, instead giving it only two stars to “reflect the evolution of the restaurant quality in our ranking”.
Eponomic eating owner George Blanc said he was not expecting “Snub, BBC said.
However, Blanc received the news in his effort, adding: “We will do with two stars. Maybe we will be less elitist and a little more accessible.”
“A star will be missing, fading, so we will manage two stars,” the chef added from CNN. “It’s not a matter.”
A Michelin spokesman confirmed the prize at the exit Friday.
“Our evaluation criteria have been the same for 125 years. They have been concentrated only on the dish,” the CNN representative told.
They said the process is “collegial” – the price is set by a team of variety inspectors, not an individual, who visit the restaurant several times a year.
“About five main criteria: the quality of the ingredients, the cooking technique, the harmony of the fragrances, the chef personality as stated in their menu, and the consistency and regulation among the visits of various inspectors,” the spokesman added.
Located outside Lyon, Georges Blanc got her first Michelin star in 1929, when she was owned by Georges’ grandmother élisa Blanc and called “La Mère Blanc”, reports CNN.
The excellent dining bar located in 1872 has retained its star prestige since then.
Georges won the third star for the restaurant in 1981, nearly 20 years after he took over, and held all three for nearly half a century until this week.
“It was really under his leadership that what was once a family inn experienced a new boom to become this gourmet village which is a true gastronomic destination today,” told Michelin Gwendal Poullec director for AFP.
The organization is an attack to “reflect the quality of the restaurant quality in our rankings,” he explained, adding that they will continue to follow this restaurant with the same kindness, the same rigor “in the future, reports the BBC.
