A private island along the Connecticut Golden Coast is now sale, demanding $ 35 million.
Hay Island, an 18 -hectare land with unimpeded view of the Long Island Sound, hit the market this week. Locale Classic Americana is owned by William Ziegler’s descendants, an American industrialist and founder of Royal Baking Powder. The island marks the last part of the one hundred-year-old family heritage of Darien’s rich town.
The saint of the sunny island is reached by a picturesque, closed path. It includes a 8,684 -square -foot colonial house and a two -room guest house built in 2010.
The main six -bathroom house, with seven bathrooms is ready, told The post the mediator, listing Sotheby’s International Realty Leslie Mcelwreath, for The Post. The offer boasts the amazing mill works, six fires and other high -level conclusions. Property also includes a pool of infinity, a private bank and a bath.
With her green lawns and gardens, the house is an idyllic place to enjoy the Connecticut wines. Oasis Posh is only a few minutes from the center of Darien, the smallest touch on the golden coast of money, and within the New York City travel distance.
Ziegler’s descendant, Cynthia Ziegler, is selling property with her husband Renfrew Brighton, Global Manion reported. The duo plan to move south.
The order includes two parts, so it will barely attract an individual buyer, Mcelwreath said. It can be especially attractive to someone interested in following the steps of William Ziegler, eager to create a family complex for generations to enjoy.
Ziegler’s descendants who painted their property in 2022. The family once owned one of the last palaces of the family -owned era, located in 60.92 hectares called Island Great Island. The island and its residence were sold in 2023 in the city of Darien away $ 85 million. Now it’s a local park.
The large island also includes a steady horse of active horse with Olympic Sia. A descendant of Ziegler, William Steinkraus, was an Olympic knight and resident of Darien. Steinkraus, according to his necrology for 2017, was widely praised one of the biggest knights in the history of sports.
A neighboring property 51.28 hectares, Ziegler Farm, sold for $ 57.5 million in 2023 for a private buyer.
Mcelwreath told The Post that the Ziegler family has “distributed very wide”, from the area, but it will be bitter when they sell this last part of the land.
“This is a very big family and people have just gone in different directions,” Mcelwreath said. “I think it’s just the end of the chapter for this family in the area.”
