State departments issues travel counseling for Turks and Caicos before spring rest Rush Travel

The US State Department recently issued a Level 2 travel counseling, warning travelers to exercise added care in Dua Turks and Caicos Islands Crime

The alarm comes as the islands prepare for the spring rest visitors.

Most of the crime in the British territory overseas, located in the Atlantic Ocean nearly 600 miles southeast of Miami and only south of Bermuda, occurs on the main island of Turkish providence and Caicos, and local police may have limited investigative resources, according to the State Department.

When you are on the islands, the State Department recommends avoid walking alone and at night, not responding to the door if the guest is not expected, and not physically resist during robbery attacks.

They also prepare an emergency plan for emergency situations and registration in the SMAR (Step) passenger registration program, which provides notifications and makes it easier for authorities to find people during an emergency.

Those holidays in the Turkish islands and Caicos also need to check the luggage carefully before leaving the US to ensure that they contain no bullets or firearms, which are illegal, according to the department.

Officials noticed that police strictly enforce weapons laws, even at the airport when passengers are leaving. Travelers face the arrest, prison time and heavy fines.

“Some US citizens have been banned and unable to depart for a few weeks or more after being found with bullets in their luggage,” according to the warning.

Offenders face 12 or more years in prison.

“Although the law allows for some exceptions and disco, the State Department cannot guarantee your release,” according to the department.
