These purchases are not flying under the radar.
When Alaa Tannous and his wife Nancy flew with Air Canada in 2022, the airline lost their controlled luggage.
By the way, the baggage returned to the Toronto couple less than 24 hours later, but Tannous demanded compensation for the purchases he made while the baggage was missing, reaching thousands of dollars.
Although Air Canada dismissed Tannous claim, the Canadian Transport Agency ordered the airline to pay $ 2,079 CDN ($ 1,440).
However, Air Canada is now sueing Tannous, taking it to the Federal Court in an effort to overturn the CTA ruling.
“It was shocking,” Tannous CBC told, adding that he thought his question was “right”.
“It is disappearing to see the airline, after all the money I have spent with them over the years [is…] Appealing a $ 2,000 request. “
Initially, Tannous demanded $ 3,435 CDN (approximately $ 2,382) from the airline, which he refused and instead offered a $ 250 weak in compensation to cover the necessary costs, a solution that did not satisfy Tan.
In the court documents received by CBC, Air Canada claimed that Tannosis posed expenses that the airline considered unreasonable for lack of luggage for less than a day.
A state from Air Canada posted on LinkedIn claimed that Tannozi’s luggage was handed over to the Vancouver couple hotel on May 26, 2022 at 9:15 in the morning with local time – less than 24 hours after travelers were affected in the city.
In the state, the airline claimed that Tannous spent $ 570.12 CDN for toilet, skin care and composition; $ 1,121.86 CDN for two pairs of pants, three shirts and a single dress that costs $ 348.84 CDN; 247.52 CDN dollars in four sets of underwear and sleeping clothing; and $ 525.50 CDN for underwear, jeans and two teas.
After surrendering the bags, Air Canada claimed to have spent Tannous and tried to experience $ 433.61 in women’s sneakers and $ 1,310.40 for a custom -made tumulus.
According to CBC, Tannous claimed that he and his wife left the hotel in the morning before the luggage arrived without warning. He also said the suitcase was meant to bring home replacement purchases, but that the sum cta ordered Air Canada to pay was not enough to cover the new luggage.
While the amount given was enough to cover only the needs, Tannous also claimed that, at the time, an Air Canada employee informed them that they could experiment “a lot of reasonable” to replace missing items.
“They couldn’t even track luggage, if it’s in Toronto or, like, on the street,” Tannous said. “I’ve been under the impression. The luggage is gone.”
According to Air Canada’s instructions, the airline vows to reimburse travelers “for” reasonable “rent or essential items, such as clothing, toilet or rents of sports equipment, as long as they are verified with the bills.
CBC reported that the maximum airline can wait for lost or delayed luggage is about $ 2,400. Air Canada, however, is now claiming that Tannous did not adequately justify purchases.
“I believe in the system, which is my mistake,” he said, calling the situation “unacceptable”. “Must be changed.”
