Tourists flooded roads and bridges for the Carnival opening weekend in Venice, Italy just weeks before the historic city removed its controversial fee to curb tourism.
The stunning images shared on social media showed overcrowded roads in a stop as people tried to take the footage and attend events such as the boat parade along the big channel.
But the excitement turned into irritation for some observers as it got stuck in a blocking of human traffic on some roads that did not seem to be moving at all.
Chaos had some social media users who choose to spend the celebration in the future.
“Experienced this today … never again,” commented on Tiktok user under a video showing the roads packaged during the first day of the festival.
“The Venice Carnival should be seen once in a lifetime, but it is largely right for survival to see people walking around and being upset to death,” another withdrew.
The Italians in Tiktok added that they avoid the area during this time of year.
Carnival events will pass until March. 4.
Soon, the city of the island will begin to capitalize visitors.
From mid -April to the end of July, the ancient city will begin to charge a controversial entry fee for visitors on Friday to Sunday and on public holidays.
Travelers who want to visit the island will be charged 5 euros (approximately $ 5.22 dollars) if they reserve at least four days premature and 10 euros (approximately $ 10.45 dollars) if they reserve the last minute, the local tourism office said.
Not everyone will have to pay to weave the beautiful channels of the city, churches and art collections.
The exceptions are created for children under 14 years of age, students, workers, people visiting the family in the city and visitors who paid to stay in hotels in Venice.
The fee was installed as part of an attempt to control tourism in the iconic city as officials made the controversial decision to stop navigation lines in 2021.
