A mother who named her son that7en says the trolls tell her that they will be harassing – but she loves his “strange name”.
Brittany Marie Davison, 25, named her three -year -old son that7en Simba after googling baby names despite.
She suggested her as a joke at first, but her partner, Wayne, 36, loved her.
Brittany loved the unique spelling, but forgot to ask the recording if they could use the number – so in his official documents he is seven.
His middle name – Simba – is inspired by Brittany The Lion King’s favorite film.
Parents – who owe a children’s cafe and a retail online – get comments saying they will get “excited” and “choose”, but they say he “fits” his name.
Brittany, from Ferryhill, County Durham, said: “That7en is the most unique child you will ever meet.
“He absolutely suits his strange name.
“All those who meet him comment on how happy and funny it is.
“People can be cruel and we are always told” he will be taken. He will be harassed. He will never have friends.
“But it is always adults who make sense – he spends every day of his life with young children in our game café and has not had a single child saying about his name.
“I am raising a strong child who is happy to climb for himself.
“I know he will grow up to love his name – but if he doesn’t. It’s just a name.
“How many people actually use the name they were born anyway?”
Wayne has six other children from a previous relationship, but despite being his seventh child, the couple say it was not the inspiration for the SE7en name.
Brittany said: “We really fought with finding a boy name we liked.
“We liked the name Teddy but the son of the best friend Wayne is called Teddy. Phoenix was our second choice.
“We were actually on a road trip and I was gogling unusual children’s names and encountered seven.
“I partially suggested as a joke, but Wayne loved it! We didn’t even look at the names after that, it was absolutely sure we were calling seven.”
That7en was born on February 12, 2022 and the pair were rejoiced at choosing their name when they met their son.
Brittany said: “I loved the spelling se7en, but unfortunately I forgot to ask the registration if we can use the number.
“I didn’t have the energy to contest it after birth, but I wish I had. We use the spelling than everywhere, except for his passport and birth certificate.”
Parents also settled in Simba for the middle name of se7en.
Brittany said: “I love Mowgli but Wayne didn’t like it.
“The Lion King is one of our favorite Disney movies and I suggested Simba too early, but Wayne wasn’t sure.
“I told him if he didn’t think of a better middle name at the time he was born – I was calling him Simba.
“And he didn’t think of one, so that7en Simba was!”
Brittany said most friends and their family are supportive of their choice of Moniker.
She said: “Most of our family and friends were supporters of our name choice after some jokes and distrust faces.
“Nana of Wayne didn’t say” You can’t call it second, that’s a number, not a name! I will call it sev ‘.
The family often nicks it ‘sev’ and Wayne even jokingly calls it ‘six’.
Sadly the couple claim they receive many negative comments from foreigners online.
Brittany said: “People are always abused when asked his name.
“We brought him to A&E a day after he was really weak and when the doctor called his name, the other parent in the waiting room asked if he had to have a counted ticket because we were ‘Order number 7 ‘And he doesn’t know what the number he was.
“A fully grown adult in Tiktok told me when he was less than six months -” I would tease him. “”
But parents say they are raising a “strong” child and if he does not like his name, he can always change it in the future.
Brittany said: “That7en is everyone’s friend, he is good, he is gentle. But he is also stubborn and will tell you when something is unfair.
“We’ve been so lucky with him, but I also know it’s a reflection on our parents that he is so kind and so happy.”
