Many young children can only dream of being a Marvel character, but a guy learned the difficult path that is not everything that is cracked to be.
An 8-year-old accidentally swallowed a magnetic toy from Amazon, effectively turning it into X-Men’s magnets, Kennedy News and the media reported.
Louise McFarlane gave her son, Junior Gallon, a group of magnetic construction balls two years ago, and to the incident he had used only for their target purposes – to build models.
But in December. 22, Gallon decided to claim that he had a drilling language, placing two of the magnets in his set on each side of his oral supplement.
He called his mother to confess that he accidentally swallowed magnets, and McFarlane, 36, explained that the two magnetic balls – who were “very small and very powerful” – had “shot” in the back of the throat .
“Junior had come out of his room and said, ‘Mummy, I have an emergency,'” Shared McFarlane, from England. “I went inside and he said he swallowed two of these magnets. He broke out crying.
He said he thought it would be ‘good’ having a pierced language. He had tried to make him look like a drilling of the language and as soon as he had made it, they drank his tongue and rose together, ”she added.
McFarlane noted that they always tell him not to put the magnets in his mouth. But “obviously he was panicked when he swallowed them because he knew it was the wrong thing to do.”
She rushed her son to the hospital, where an X -ray discovered the magnets accumulated together in the stomach.
“He was lucky that they tied together before they swallow them; it can be given a completely different story,” the mother of two was separated.
Doctors were seriously concerned that magnets could attack on the opposite sides of the organ, which could have been catastrophic, and if the balls had been deceived, Gallon’s intestine could have been torn open.
The boy was held overnight in the hospital, and the next day an X -ray showed that the magnets moved to the right side of his body.
Doctors told McFarlane that her son was no longer in danger and waiting until the magnets naturally passed.
Gallon was advised to stay away from magnets and other metal items as they could move the magnets from which they were currently and lead to damage.
“They told us to keep magnetic items and clots away from it. Even [zippers]Because magnets in his body can follow the chains. We had to make sure we didn’t have such clothing for a good week, ”McFarlane said.
As they did not notice that magnets were passing, a later X -ray revealed that they were no longer in Gallon’s body.
“You hear stories of horror when kids die, with batteries and stuff, so you immediately think worse,” McFarlane said. “His father and I really prepared the only ones, but it was a massive relief when we realized he was okay.”
She said she was “in shock” from the incident and “how dangerous it could be”.
McFarlane placed all the magnetic objects at home in the bins and is now warning other parents about the risks of buying toys for their children.
“They are on social media; people have thousands of them and they build many things like home. Junior wanted them to build after he watched those videos,” she said.
“Don’t buy them – it’s not worth it. They look cute in the video, but it’s just not worth having them, even if you trust your children not to put them in their mouths. I trusted Junior and then, all a Sudd, he had a silly thought, “she added.
The mother admitted that she would not buy magnetic toys again and choose for other games.
“He has autism, so he likes his reliable toys, but the magnets went straight to the bin.”
A Amazon’s spokesman told Kennedy News that they were “sad” to hear about the incident and were approaching the family.
“Security is a major advantage in the Amazon, and we demand that all the products offered in our store respect our application laws, regulations and police,” the spokesman said.
“We have proactive measures in the country to prevent the order of prohibited products, and we continue to monitor our store.
“We have removed this product while we investigate.”
