Fans are mourning for the favorite dog of Internet therapy, Norbert.
Norbert’s mother, Julie Steines, posted on Instagram, sharing that the loved one died “peacefully” on Sunday at night.
“With a heavy heart that I write to tell you that St. Norbert Liv Freyeruth Steines passed away with the warmth of my wings last night,” she shared on Norbert’s account on Monday.
In previous posts, she indicated that Norbert was “hospitalized unexpectedly” at the beginning of the week for high kidney markers.
“My family is angry. It was the honor of a life to be trusted to oversee his time here on Earth, ”Steines added.
Steines adopted the “unique dog adopted with mixed breeds” in 2009 when she was four months old, and at the time he was one, she had trained Helf to be a certified therapy dog.
For 13 years, the fluffy friend worked to make people smile, including patients at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, where he was declared the smallest therapy dog by more than 100 in the dog therapy program Amerman Family Foundation.
But Norbert’s audience came beyond his visits within persons. His presence on social media gave him an international fanbase, with 820,000 followers on Instagram and appearances on shows such as today and Good Morning America.
The four -legged Paul also appeared in multiple children’s books and on the covers of numerous magazines, including Animal Wellness magazine, groomer for groomer and True Friendly.
Steines and Norbert also created a “Huggable” version of the therapy being, and the duo donated over 4,500 from the toys to the Toys for Tots and other charity causes that were donated to children in need, according to his website.
“His approval changed my life forever in unimaginable ways,” Steines wrote in her tribute. “With only 3 pounds, he told us all the importance of making others smile. He lived his belief that you should not be great to make a big difference in the world. “
“I know for sure two things: Norbert made this world a better place, and his spirit will live through our smiles in his community, Norbethood.”
