You may be tempted to drink a cup of coffee or an energy drink when you wake up, but experts say there is another drink that can start your day in the best way – Ole h20.

“I always drink a large glass of water,” said Dr. Brian Hoeflinger, a Certified Ohio neurosurgeon, recently told about his morning routine.

Drinking water is essential for recharge of lost fluids, extracting toxins, stimulating metabolism, controlling calorie intake, helping, digestion, increased skin health, strengthening immunity, regulating body temperature, retention of regular bowel movements and improvement of brain function.

And there is evidence that it should be the first thing you catch – after your alarm.

A 2020 study found that drinking 500 milliliters of water, about two cups, after 12 hours of dehydration improved memory, relieved thirst and improved mood.

Drinking 200 milliliters gave many of these benefits, while 100 milliliters were much less effective.

Emily Leeming, a microbiome scientist and registered dietitians, suggests keeping a container with a glass next to your bed.

“Or make sure you drink money and after you have brushed your teeth,” she recently wrote in her “second brain” citizen.

Dr. Shiara Ortiz-Pujols, Director of Obesity Medicine at the Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, stressed that we lose water while sleeping through physiological processes such as breathing and sweating.

While hot water can awaken the digestive system, cold water can slightly increase your metabolism while your body works to heat it.

If you are not ready to jump when you wake up, doctors say it is okay to achieve your hydration goals later during the day.

“The health aspects of hydrated stay are measured in a day,” said Dr. William W. Li, author of “Eat to Beat Disease: The New Science of How Body Your Body Can Heal Itself,” told Real Simple, “instead of drinking water or water drinking sequence in connection with morning or any other meal. ”
