Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – and the calculator.
Using the “Greek Golden Ratio of Beauty”—a measurement used to determine the ideal makeup of the face or body—facial cosmetic surgeon Dr. Julian De Silva has discovered the most beautiful supermodels according to science.
“We all wonder who really is the most beautiful of all the supermodels and this is the closest we can get to an explanation based on facial symmetry and classic beauty features,” the London-based doctor shared in a blog post.
“The models were ranked at the height of their fame, so it was a level playing field and we had the fairest way to judge who was the most beautiful according to the Golden Ratio.”
While most supermodels fell just shy of perfection, Kate Moss, 51, came out on top, scoring over 94%.
According to De Silva, the model’s facial features were closer to scientific perfection, scoring high across the board in terms of eyes, eyebrows, chin, jaw and lips. But, De Silva added, her “two standout features” were her jawline and chin.
“Kate Moss is the undisputed queen of the runways and the greatest of all supermodels,” he said.
“She was hailed at the height of her beauty, right after her first Vogue cover in 1993. Her almost perfect jawline and chin make her stand out as an icon of natural beauty.”
Cindy Crawford, 58, gave Moss a run for her money, however, coming in at more than 93%.
The infamous supermodel, known for iconic ads with major brands such as Pepsi, “scored highest overall in three categories – for her chin at 99.6%, just 0.4% off perfection, eye position (99.4%) and forehead (98.6%), De Silva wrote.
“She would have won if she hadn’t scored badly for her lips (84%).
Gisele Bundchen, 44, came third with Jourdan Dunn, 34, trailing in fourth place for being “marked” for the shape of her nose and the size of her forehead, despite being one of the “most beautiful supermodels current,” De Silva explained. .
Meanwhile, Emily Ratajkowski, 33, dropped to ninth place. Despite her near-perfect nose — “highest on the list,” De Silva noted — “she was disappointed by the low scores for her eyebrows (79%) and her jawline (76.8%).
Shockingly, Naomi Campbell, 54, came in dead last.
According to De Silva, she “had the second highest score for her eyebrows (89.9%), but scored poorly for her chin (80.4%).
