Call it spermizer.
Just in case you thought stitching yourself up was hard: plastic surgeon Chen Weinong in Taiwan made men around the world cringe after giving himself a vasectomy on camera, as seen in footage on Instagram with 4 million views.
“It was a strange feeling to touch and sew my urethra,” the incision doctor said in the AI-translated caption of the nail-biting clamp, which he uploaded to the platform for “educational purposes.”
“I’m really brave,” he replied to viewers on Instagram.
The father-of-three had decided to cut it as a “gift to his wife” to ensure the couple had no more offspring. The fertile woman opted for a vasectomy, a form of male birth control in which the surgeon cuts and seals the tubes that carry sperm, thereby preventing fertilization during sex, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“Vasectomy has a low risk of complications and can usually be performed in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia,” they write.
However, unlike most patients, Dr. Chen decided to go the DIY route for his prophylactic procedure.
Ready, set, snap.
The unconventional tutorial shows the surgeon in his chair performing the operation on himself, while he casually talks to the viewer during the process as if he were doing a make-up tutorial.
After applying anesthetic cream to numb the genitals, Dr. Chen performs the surgery himself using a scalpel and surgical staples.
While the procedure looked excruciating, the surgeon only showed visible discomfort once, leaning back in his chair in obvious pain. He then gathers his tools and resumes the operation.
While vasectomies usually take between 10-30 minutes, according to the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Chen said that it took twice as much because he did it in his anatomy.
Thankfully, his mastur-spay-tion method was successful. Despite some initial pain and discomfort the night after surgery, Dr. Chen said he felt fine the next morning.
Many commentators praised the self-sufficient surgeon for his courage.
“It’s really cool,” said one fan, while another warned others to “not try this at home.”
“Will there be a video of an OB/GYN giving birth later?” mock a mind.
Meanwhile, some critics wondered about the legality of disarming the phallus.
Fortunately, a “preliminary investigation” by health officials revealed that there were no legal problems associated with his contraceptive stunt.
Dr. Chen said his DIY procedure was overseen by a urologist, who would take over if anything went wrong.
