This furious flyer had her luggage robbed – and she’s determined to find out whodunit.
Leoni Crowther says $2,500 worth of designer items were stolen in a sneaky way her suitcase sometime between check-in and arrival on a recent easyJet journey.
The British traveller, 21, was flying from the Isle of Man to Belfast with a stopover at Manchester Airport, with her checked bag weighing 42 pounds when she left the first airport.
When she finally arrived in Manchester, Crowther’s suitcase went through the conveyor belt, but it was considerably lighter.

The college student was stunned when she unzipped her bag to find it only contained a pair of workout leggings, a lunch box, a sports bra and a laptop charger.
A staggering $2,500 was missing from inside the box, including $700 worth of make-up, a $180 handbag, a $300 Vivienne Westwood jumper, three pairs of $120 trainers, a $60 Victoria’s Secret coat, three pairs $75 jeans and precious sentimental gifts. given to her by her grandmother.
“I opened it and my heart sank,” she said. “I thought it had to be a joke. It’s so weird. I didn’t understand. In the suitcase was almost everything I own, including some gifts from my nan.”
The easyJet help desk told her to contact Manchester Airport as the plane she flew to Belfast had already been inspected and there were no bags left.
Crowther also reported the situation to the police.
“They said they checked the hold and there was nothing there, so whatever happened must have happened at Manchester Airport,” she explained.
“They all said they’d never heard of anything like it before.”
Crowther said she had to postpone school work to cope and had to borrow clothes from her friend.
“I can’t change the items because I’m a third-year student,” she said. “I just want to know what happened.”
She added that it is difficult to get in touch with anyone who can properly help her because “there is no possibility of someone who has their suitcase but the contents are missing.”
Fortunately, she took out travel insurance for this trip – which she usually never does – and hopes her claim will be accepted.
An easyJet spokesperson responded to the experience, saying: “We were sorry to learn of Ms. Crowther’s experience. We take all allegations of this nature very seriously and are now investigating this with our baggage handlers. We work closely with all our airport partners to ensure our passengers’ luggage is handled safely.”
