Pinterest reveals the 5 hottest ‘tone-setting’ palette colors for 2025

The result of this year’s trendy colors is borrowed from another kind of “heaven”.

Pinterest has unveiled its annual color palette report, highlighting a custom color lineup inspired by their Pinterest Predicts trend report that will “set the tone” for the year.

Their 2025 color palette includes such food-inspired hues as cherry red, butter yellow, indigo aura, fennel green and alpine oat.

“The Pinterest palette is entirely inspired by Pinners – what they’re searching, saving and buying on our platform. But it’s built for creatives like you,” Xanthe Wells, vice president of Global Creative at Pinterest, said in a statement.

Cherry Red, inspired by the Cherry Coded trend, is a bold shade that makes a statement. “Cherry Red Girl” and “Cherry Girl Style” have taken TikTok by storm with millennials and Gen Z putting the cherry on top of their outfits.

On a more subtle note, Butter Yellow is a “playful top, a whimsical doll”, inspired by trends such as Dolled Up, Fisherman Aesthetic and Surreal Soirees. Although the color is soft and pastel, yellow brings warmth to any room.

Pinterest described Aura Indigo as “lilac, but with an edge.” The cosmic-inspired mood color draws from trends like Sea Witchery and Aura Beauty.

And it seems like everyone wants to be in that “Lavender Haze,” with a 120% increase in searches for “purple core,” a 175% increase in “purple lavender aesthetic,” and a 100% increase in “lilac shirt wear for men “.

Another color trend straight from the fridge: Dill Green. While Pinterest was inspired by trends like Pickle Fix and Terra Futura, pickles have been having a cultural moment for some time.
