The hottest jeans of the season aren’t even denim.
Sweatpants jeans have taken the internet by storm as fashionistas pass on pants that offer comfort and style.
After the pricey Rag & Bone Miramar pants — dubbed the “Gen Z jegging” — went viral last year, fans have discovered a dupe of the $238 pants at the Gap for less than $90.
On social media, shoppers are championing Gap’s Baggy Sweatpant Jeans, which the brand has dubbed the “adherent jean” and billed as “the new way to wear your 24/7 sweat uniform.”
Their popularity, however, has led to sweatpants-jeans hybrids being sold online in both colors, though the men’s version is still in stock in limited sizes.
“Run don’t walk to the Gap for these athletic jeans!!” one content creator wrote in a TikTok video.
“When I saw these from @gap I ordered IMMEDIATELY!!!” another TikToker wrote online.
“POV: now you can wear a sweatshirt to work and no one will know,” said someone else, adding that she’ll “wear these every day.”
Wearing a sweatshirt-jeans hybrid in the workplace leans toward the biggest shift toward more comfortable office wear, a post-pandemic phenomenon.
Liz Teich, founder of The New York Stylist, previously told The Post that work attire has become “much more casual” in recent years, revealing that some clients even wear leggings to the office.
“It seems like anything goes these days,” she said at the time.
Gen Z workers in particular have been criticized for their seemingly inappropriate attire for the office.
A TikTokker was shocked when viewers said her top and silk pants looked like pajamas, despite the popular trend of wearing pajama-like pants in public.
On social media, corporate fashionistas found themselves wearing linen, cotton or satin pajama pants to the 9-to-5, while high schoolers wear school-like outfits.
Even celebrities have joined the trend, with the likes of Blake Lively and Beyoncé wearing similar sets for red carpet and star-studded appearances.
Gen Zers can now achieve a look similar to a cozy Canadian tuxedo by using Gap Sweat Jeans paired with the Denim Bomber Jacket, which retails for $129.
As one creator put it: “The @Gap denim sweatshirt is the perfect back to the office outfit.”
