This birthday chart is one for the ages.
The Daily Mail has come up with a brilliant new tool that reveals the popularity of every single birthday in the UK.
The figures are calculated by taking an average of every birth in England and Wales between 1995 and 2023.
The chart allows people to see where their birthday ranks among the 366 days of the year.
The ten most popular birthdays are all between September 20 and 30 – with September 27 at the top of the list.
According to the data, there were an average of 1,944 babies born in September. 27 each year between 1995 and 2023.
Daily Mail analysts claimed that September birthdays are the most common for two reasons. The first is that couples may plan to have children who are the oldest in their school year.
The second is that couples tend to conceive children most often around the holidays – which fall nine months before September.
On the other hand, December 26 is a less common birthday.
In the years included in the chart, there were an average of 1,311 babies born each year on Boxing Day.
Surprisingly, Christmas Day (December 25) is the second least common birthday, with an average of 1,378 births each year.
Analysts noted that the number of births falls during the holidays because induced deliveries and elective C-sections are usually scheduled for alternate dates.
Of the other holidays on the list of most popular birthdays, New Year’s Day (January 1) is 364, Valentine’s Day (February 14) is 185, St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) is 284, July 4 is 46 and Halloween (October 31) is 187.
Leap day (February 29) was also included in the data, despite only coming once every 4 years.
The date ranks as the 325th most popular birthday out of 366. An average of 1,753 babies are born on Leap Day.
According to the Daily Mail, there were 19,051,773 live births in England and Wales between 1995 and 2023.
The 591,072 average births in 2023 were the lowest number since the late 1970s.
A past study found that September is the most popular birth month in the United States as well.
The data was collected by FiveThirtyEight from the National Center for Health Statistics and the Social Security Administration, all of which found that, like the Daily Mail’s UK study, all of the top 10 birthdays in the US are in September.
December 25, rather than December 26, was the least popular birthday in the American study.
