A TikTokker recently went viral after demonstrating the true power of airplane toilets — showing that almost nothing in a sky toilet is safe from its mighty siphon.
Jocelyn Saribay, known online as @itsjoceelyns, tested one of the powerful pots recently by placing a sheet of toilet paper on the floor of an airplane toilet.
The toilet suction was so strong, it sucked the toilet paper off the floor and into the toilet,” she told Storyful.
Seeing it in person made Saribay’s jaw drop — and she wasn’t the only one who turned around.
Soon, her clip, viewed over a million times, shocked viewers.
“Book a flight now to test this out!” commented one.
“This made me feel uncomfortable,” wrote another.
Frequent flyers may note that Saribay erred in touching the TP at first – a cardinal sin that those who know him have repeatedly warned against.
A member of the cabin crew, named Kate, shared with her followers on social media the disgusting news that the sanitary product is often contaminated by the time you get to the toilet.
“There’s men’s pee in it because they don’t know how to control that dryness,” she said of the guys who spray helplessly while the plane is in motion.
Some small pros have recommended instead using paper towels or bean bags, which tend to be out of the line of fire.
Meanwhile, flight attendant and blogger Rich Henderson warns that forming a line outside the bathroom on an airplane is a huge flying mistake.
“The lineup makes it worse because everyone thinks there’s always going to be a lineup,” he told USA Today.
“I promise there will be a lull in bathroom traffic. [Flight attendants] we should go too.”
And while Saribay may have proven the suction power of the plane, it won’t always eliminate in-flight odors from the lavatory.
In extreme cases, the flight crew typically and strategically place coffee beans in and around the bathroom to absorb the unpleasant smell.
