The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a high-risk warning for more than 10,000 pounds of pork products in four states in two separate recalls.
Impero Foods & Meats, Inc., based in Baltimore. is recalling about 7,485 pounds of raw pork sausage products that were produced “without the benefit of federal inspection,” the USDA announced Friday.
FSIS had received notification that products were being manufactured at a facility that had a suspended inspection permit. FSIS conducted surveillance and determined that Old World Italian Sausage bindings and cords were not inspected by FSIS, prompting the recall.
The affected items were manufactured between October 3, 2024 and December 19, 2024 and contain the company number “EST. 10827.” The products were shipped in 10-pound cartons to restaurants and retail locations in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions or illness due to consumption of the products, but the USDA advises those who purchased “Old World Sulfur” with an undisclosed brand between October. 2, 2024 and December. 19, 2024, you must discard the product or return it to the place of purchase.
FSIS defined the recall as Class I, which is described as “a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”
Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, Ralph’s Packing Company is recalling approximately 3,132 pounds of ready-made pork and beef bologna products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, the USDA announced Friday.
FSIS was notified that the labels applied to the products did not include milk as an ingredient.
Pulled meats include Ralph’s brand Circle R Garlic Bologna and Garlic Bologna with Jalapeños. These items have been manufactured since September 2022 and may be frozen, raising concerns that they may still be in people’s or businesses’ refrigerators or freezers.
The affected products have the company number “EST. 51557” inside the USDA inspection mark, as well as the following lot codes:
- Ralph’s Circle R Brand Bologna Garlic: 0093, 0654, 0804, 1074, 1153, 1224, 1374, 1774, 1924, 2572, 2974, 3132 and 3483.
- Ralph’s Circle R Brand Garlic Bologna with Jalapeños: 0804, 1074, 1224, 1233, 1354, 2184 and 3374.
FSIS warned in the Class I recall that these products may have been cut and sold at retail food counters.
There are no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products, but those who have purchased them are asked not to consume them and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
