Ring reveals the sweetest and funniest moments caught on camera in 2024: ‘I couldn’t believe what I just heard’

Smile – you’re on camera.

Doorbells have become a part of everyday life for many Americans, allowing us to watch our homes inside and out—no matter who we are.

And most of the time, according to Ring, one of these security services, what’s caught can be downright hilarious — even touching.

From wild and tame animals running amok to sweet family moments, the lens sees it all.

Now, at the end of the year, Ring has released its 11 favorite moments caught on camera – as shared with the company by its customers.

There was the owner, for example, who thought a crime was being committed on his front lawn – only to discover the truth was much more pleasant.

A few other clips capture how the devices work in two ways, specifically with owners using their microphones and speakers to prevent disaster from happening.

The key word there is TRY.

Here are Ring’s favorite moments in 2024.

A dog disaster

Customer Zeric shared that their dog Mercy had been “going through a terror phase” eating tree ornaments and picture frames.

“We use our Ring camera to figure out which culprits are eating our ornaments and to keep an eye on our animals in general,” Zeric said. “It’s hard to stay angry with them when we see their reactions to my voice. My husband and I always get the best laughs from her.”

A thriving relationship

A couple realized that many of their special moments were captured by their Ring camera. Ring/Big Fish PR

Another Ring owner, Megan, realized her camera had captured some of life’s most special moments since 2019 while she was dating her husband-to-be, Alex.

“I was thrilled to see these important life events captured on our Ring camera,” said Megan.

“Our life together has been so full of recent ‘firsts’ – the first date, the first wedding night, the first time we brought our puppy home – and Ring was able to capture every memory of special for us to look back on and cherish.”

A new member of the family

A little boy was thrilled when he realized he was going to be a big brother. Ring/Big Fish PR

One woman, Samantha, will never forget when her son found out, on camera, that he was going to be a big brother. He was standing on their porch, in tears, as the little boy’s father arrived with a car seat.

“It made all the nurses in the hospital cry,” she said. “He was looking forward to it all the time and suddenly he realized that everything was happening.”

A fierce confrontation

Jeffery got his Ring camera in part to keep an eye on neighborhood crime, but instead, he caught a dog living the dog dream.

“When I got a motion alert notification on my phone while I was walking my dog, I saw my neighbor’s dog strangely chasing and wagging its own tail,” he said. “The crime rate in our neighborhood is very high, so it was a pleasant surprise to see our camera capture activity that was far from criminal and something funny for once.”

Grandma is watching

LeeAnn was able to use a two-way system on her Ring device to remotely catch her golden retriever, Donnie, from chewing on her shoes.

“I was on my lunch break at work and wanted to see what he was doing, and that’s when I caught him in the act chewing on my shoe,” she said.

Letting out a “Donnie, no!” from the speaker to the system, the good guy hung up the shoe and moved on to better things.

Polarizing birds

Like Donnie, customer Pamela used the speaker system in her camera to rally her pet chickens from moving across her path.

“Well, they were wandering too far, so through my Ring Two-Way Talk audio, I told them to come into the backyard, not knowing if they would listen or not,” Pamela said. “To my utter dismay, the girls (chickens) actually heard and ran.”

Protector of the family

Returning from an evening of swimming, mum Ashley saw bravery from her youngest daughter that remains unparalleled. In front of her siblings and friends, the ten-year-old heroically killed a huge spider on their doorstep.

“We had a lot of laughs because you could see the fear in the two older girls, but when my little girl goes upstairs she goes into FULL Mom Mode,” Ashley said.

Covering the soil in the mat

It’s like a scene from Caddyshack. A man named Tim was shocked to see some mushrooms walking away with his porch welcome mat. Turns out there were friends who did more damage.

“These lands [in the neighborhood]however, it ended up taking a pillow as well as tearing up several other pillows and taking the stuffing apart from our rug.”

Mom knows best

A mother used her Ring camera to trace her daughter back to their home. Ring/Big Fish PR

Kamber captured the moment she saw her little Maylin leave the house unattended. A quick shout in the mother’s voice brought the little one back inside before the trouble started.

“I hadn’t even left for a minute to use the bathroom while she was playing,” Kamber said.

She was trying to be an escape artist and it almost worked if it wasn’t for the Ring announcement. Maylin has always been quick-witted and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants.”

A little gratitude from a little lady

A mother was touched when her daughter shared loving comments. Ring/Big Fish PR

In a slightly different twist to Kamber’s tale, mum Sheena caught one of the sweetest things her daughter Amelia ever said on a Ring camera during dinner with her three children.

“‘I’ve been meaning to say this…Thanks for being a great mother!'” Amelia said, sending shockwaves through the system for Sheena.

“I couldn’t believe what I had just heard,” recalls the mother. “She started getting emotional and teary, so I put the cutlery down and invited her in for a hug.”

Thanksgiving Revenge

Ivan and his daughter are probably still reeling from this.

As the two were walking to their car to eat breakfast, a turkey ran across the street, making all sorts of noises.

Thinking quickly, the father quickly got his little one into the car and then barricaded himself in the car as the turkey ran up to the door and wouldn’t leave.

As Ivan aptly put it, “We got close and got teased by a turkey.”
