Her dating pool is filled to the brim.
Suzan Mutesi hasn’t had a stable relationship in eight years despite going on 1,000 dates – and rejecting failed suitors with an automated email message.
“I basically spend most of my free time on apps,” the 38-year-old actress and writer told PA Real Life. “I want my fairy tale to end, I want to meet him and get married.”
The serial sweetheart, who splits her time between Sydney, Australia and London, UK, said at the height of her dating life in her early 30s, she averaged at least three dates a week. Nowadays, that number is closer to one romantic date per week.
Mutesi said she would often go out just because she “didn’t feel like cooking,” adding that she caters to potential parents on Bumble and Hinge.
When she’s not actively dating, the Ugandan-Australian influencer is preparing for one or reflecting on a past one.
For Mutes, dating is a “full-time job.”
“If I’m not on a date, on apps, taking some new photos to update my profile, or watching a rom-com, chances are I’m out with my friends — and the conversation will be about dating our last.” Mutesi explained. “And if I’m at the gym, I’ll work out to a playlist of my favorite love songs.”
The soulmate seeker also insists on looking her best every time she leaves the house, ditching “comfort pants” and other messy outfits in favor of make-up and sharp fashion, which she hopes will help to achieve Mr. The right.
She was reportedly inspired to dive headfirst into the dating pool after a series of failed relationships, including one where she met a man in his thirties while in college.
Despite the fact that he was “very cavalier” – even giving Mutesi an allowance and sending her private cars so she wouldn’t have to take public transport – the pair called it quits after four years to focus on their careers.
Mutesi started dating someone else a few years later aged 27, but broke up after three years because she knew “they weren’t meant to be”.
“I knew love was out there and I wasn’t going to get it sitting at home in my pajamas – I had to go out there and get it,” said the angry girl.
Alas, bagging a long-term boyfriend hasn’t been a cakewalk; The longest relationship that Mutesi has had since the beginning of her pilgrimage in search of the paramour has been three months.
In fact, with so many rejected boyfriends under her belt, Mutesi decided to speed up the breakup process with an automated email.
It read: “Hey, thanks so much for a great time, just wanted to let you know it didn’t work out, but it was nice meeting you,” the actress said.
“I never like to waste time,” declared Mutesi, who has obviously had her share of hellish meetings.
She recalled a romantic picnic in Hyde Park that went south after the defendant tried to push the ducks away from their feed and ended up falling into the water.
“It was funny; I just couldn’t stop laughing…but then he couldn’t get out, so I literally had to go in and help him,” she recalls. “I was so upset – it ruined my designer outfit. I didn’t see him again.”
Another Mr. Wrong tried to cook Mutesi’s dinner during a date in 2023, but his gesture backfired as he lit the pan, leaving his girlfriend “unimpressed”.
“The fact that he offered me carbs when I should have stayed too,” added Mutesi, who regularly uploads glamorous photos to her 1.2 million Instagram followers.
In perhaps his worst outing to date in 2021, the bozo allegedly tried to bring another woman along in the hopes of scoring a threesome.
The disappointing batting average hasn’t deterred Mutesi, who insisted she hasn’t “given up on finding true love”.
“I’ve put as much effort into my dating life as into my career, and I think once you put in the effort, you’ll get results,” she said.
Mutesi has even chronicled her journey in a book, Love Beyond 30, hoping her love odyssey will inspire women over 30 to look for the man of their dreams.
