This passenger has a right to control himself.
A Redditor, who goes by @wrathofthefonz online, revealed how another flight passenger’s deceptive behavior worked against them when they allegedly “asked to board forward” to get a good seat.
The passenger was flying on a United Airlines flight from Pittsburgh to Chicago when they noticed the strange encounter.
“Guy wants preschool for those who need special help. He doesn’t have a wheelchair but says he needs special help since he just had knee surgery,β the user wrote in the December post. 17.
The man boards the plane and makes himself comfortable in the exit row seat, which is usually prohibited for passengers who are injured or unable to help other passengers if a crisis occurs.
“You must be physically fit and ready to take emergency action when seated in emergency or exit rows. If you are not, look for another seat,” says the official website of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The Redditor agreed, noting, “If he just had knee surgery, he can’t sit in the exit row as he would have to be ready, willing and able to help in an emergency.”
However, the gate agent caught the passenger’s trick and quickly gave him the boot from the extra legroom seat.
“Dude changes his tune and indignantly insists he’s fine and can sit in the exit row after all,” the user wrote.
Despite his efforts to convince the gate agent that he is well equipped, he had to be moved to another place that was more suitable for his supposed injury to recover.
“End result: His wife sat in her original exit row seat and he got a middle seat in the back,” the blogger concluded.
Many Redditors found the flier’s reality check to be good karma.
“He got what he deserved! It’s great to see instant karma!β one person commented.
“I think the proper term for a guy like this in Pittsburgh is a ‘disappearance,'” one joker chuckled. “Good for GA for enforcing the rules.”
“I was on this flight waiting in the group 1 line when I saw this little world unfold,” exclaimed one passenger on the flight.
βThe first half of it, I was like, OK, some people have invisible disabilities. loved the ending,β laughed another.
